Now that school year programs are all winding down – a quick update on where I’ll be this summer!

Boston Ballet Education & Community Initiatives

In July, I will be heading out to the Ballet Sun Valley festival in Idaho with Emily Singleton, Program Director of Boston Ballet’s Education & Community Initiatives. We will deliver a two-day teacher training on inclusive and adaptive programming; and co-lead a series of inclusive community workshops on the last day of the festival. Can’t wait to dance, teach, and take in performances in this beautiful mountain setting!

We are excited to continue these important conversations and more thoughtfully serve the diverse populations that engage with our programming.

Total Eclipse Dance Studio

I am thrilled to be teaching contemporary classes at this newly launched dance studio in Needham, MA! I’ll be leading a Tuesday evening master class series in late July/early August, as well as beginner and intermediate/advanced classes during both the July and August intensive weeks. Looking forward to working with these passionate students!

Wilmington Dance Academy

I lead an Improv & Composition class during the year at WDA, and am excited to be teaching two days of master classes in Contemporary Technique & Improvisation during the studio’s “Dance Blitz” summer camp in July. Excited to sweat through some phrasework with these talented young artists!

For the first time, I’ll be teaching at BBS’s Summer Ballet Workshop, a two-week dance camp for students ages 8-12. I’ll be leading a daily Modern class, as well as a Creative Movement & Composition class, to supplement their daily ballet training. We are thrilled to have a record number of Citydance alumni from Spring 2019 enrolled in this program – I can’t wait to see them all again as they continue their dance journeys, and to meet all the BBS students I haven’t worked with yet!

REACH at Boston University

Before I start my gig in the fall teaching the High-Intermediate level of Modern/Contemporary in the dance department at BU (cannot wait!), I’ll be guest teaching a class at the summer REACH program. REACH is a dance apprenticeship program for Boston teens run by BU’s director of dance Micki Taylor Pinney. I’ll also make a guest appearance with Camp Terrier’s ‘Dance Arts’ program – a summer camp for kids ages 8-13.

And lastly – I always take time during the summer to refocus and refuel my own artistry! I am planning on visiting New York City over a couple long weekends and taking classes in Gaga, ballet, and contemporary at Gibney and Mark Morris; and continuing to dig into the concept behind my most recent work a time for loss & a time for ______ . I hope to further develop the choreography, make a full third draft, and collaborate with a musician as well to better capture the full landscape.

My close friend and ‘tiny twin’ Suzannah Dessau, a freelance dancer residing in Brooklyn, and I are also in the beginning stages of discussing a collaborative duet. I look forward to continuing to research with her and see what we come up with!
